Defiant Class vessels were considered by many as the workhorse of Starfleet during the Dominion war. Several were destroyed during the war, and the rest were damaged severely. Only few Defiant class vessels remained in the federation , but yet they proved to be invaluable .
This did not go over very well with Captain Andrew Jenkins. He needed command of a vessel, and he wanted it soon. While aboard the U.S.S. Victory, a defiant class vessel was found in a wreckage field. . Starfleet approved a refit on the badly damaged vessel and one year later emerged the U.S.S. Damion NCC-30490.
